MOOSE

MOOSE

You would think with all the moose signs and statues that we would have seen more of these wild creatures on our trip.  Or Canada would at least have it as our national animal or maybe even on a coin!
Good thing we aren't traveling at night!

Moose Jaw pedestrian sign

Even some of the local citizens of Moose Jaw didn't know they had this sign!

Mac the Moose in Moose Jaw, not Max the Moose!

He looks mean.

5m tall Maxmillion the Moose in Dryden, Ontario

All right already, we have our eyes open!
Even the shops had moose t-shirts

Very realistic in Algonquin park!
Maybe in Quebec?
French wildlife looks dangerous!
Might have to go here to see a real moose1

Nope not a moose!

Now we are getting somewhere!

We are paying ATTENTION!!
Can't possibly go any slower, we are pulling a trailer!

Finally in Newfoundland on the Viking trail we see a moose!
Now that's a moose! July 22 - day 26 of our trip

Always on the look out!
None crossing here

What's that?

Slow down again
I guess moose need fuel too.
Didn't see one of these either!
More signs
60 km?!? sure to see one here!
Here moosey moosey!

We did get to see a few live moose on our trip across Canada, but saw more signs and statues.

This is the life, cutting loose!

It's been an amazing trip covering 17,500 km in 49 days to the East coast and back.  We saw so many things it's hard to pick the highlights.  Everything from the icebergs in Twillingate NFLD, to kayaking the Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick.   Canada is an amazing country with so much to see and admire.  The beauty from Cabot Trail, Gros Morne and Niagara Falls to its diverse people.  We learnt about Canada's vast history and we can say we saw 10 provinces, 9 parliament buildings and all the Great Lakes on this trip.

Some of the highlights the kids came up with included the fresh lobster, exploring the Viking site, the maritimes and watching the first sunrise at Cape Spear, Newfoundland.
Not a bad place to end the trip!

For the next 2 weeks we will stay put, enjoy the lake and our cottage at the Shuswap!

Day 49- August 14 Alberta to B.C.

Day 49- August 14   Alberta to B.C.

After a chiropractor appointment and transferring items from the trailer and attaching the boat, we were off to the cottage.
New driver for the last leg of our trip & happy passengers

With me driving the Expedition pulling the boat, kids and dog, Brody my co-pilot.  Scott rode his motorbike, he had a couple of stops and met up with us at Finn Creek for lunch.

Kids played in the cold river, Brody again moving rocks to divert the water.  One last time change shortly after crossing the B.C. border, our 10th province.

Ready for last part of our trip

We saw mountain sheep as we came into Golden for a fuel stop.  Scott's bike took less than $20, quite a bit less than the expedition.

Beautiful Rocky Mountains

As we have seen and stopped at most of the B.C. sites, we cruised right passed Revelstoke train museum, Three Valley Gap, The Enchanted Forest, Crazy Creek, Craigellachie Last Spike, and Sicamous.  Scott passed us and went ahead to Salmon Arm to pick up a boat battery.  As a light rain started we made a quick stop to pick up pizza's at Boston Pizza.

Next stop was the Shell at Blind Bay for boat fuel and a few groceries.  Scott passed us again and went straight to the cottage.  Arrived in the rain at 7:30 pm, now 6:30 pm due to our last time change, after an 8 hour drive.
