Day 41- August 6 Toronto to Niagara Falls
We left Cedar Park Campground and made our way around Toronto and Hamilton traffic towards Niagara Falls. There are so many lanes along the 401, 407 and QEW. There were so many vineyards in the area, it's a good thing I don't drink wine.

One of the many vineyards |
Traffic thinned out as we followed Lake Ontario and stopped to touch our second great lake and get a rock. We saw an old rusty ship washed up on the shore, some lovely swans and a vending machine with live bait!!

Anyone for a boat ride? |

Another Great Lake done |

Kids couldn't decide what they wanted for lunch! |
Next stop was at the 40 Creek Distillery, #1 rated rye whiskey in the world, and a shopping trip for Scott. We ended up buying more for Nadz, our friend from Australia, though Scott did get a shirt and some 40 Creek barbeque sauce. I tried their new 40 Creek Cream, almost like a Bailey's, but better!

Scott's kind of shopping |

|
Ready to give the tour |
We found our way to Andre's place, a friend of Scott's he works with, in Niagara Falls. We unhooked the trailer and made lunch before heading to the falls. Mickey stayed in the cool trailer. Only about 15 minutes away we found a place to park and walked toward the river from Lake Erie, our 3rd Great Lake, that flows over the Niagara Falls. This is a natural outlet from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.

River connecting Lake Erie and Lake Ontario |
It was so misty and when the wind came up it felt like it was raining. The Horseshoe falls are 670 m wide and 52 m in height. We took lots of photos as we made our way along the rock wall and passed the US falls.

Amazing & powerful |
We got to the Horn Blower for a boat tour of the falls. We wore the bright red ponchos for the 30 minute ride passed the US Falls, Bridal Falls and finally the Horseshoe Falls. This was a first for Scott and the kids, as I had done this years ago when the Maid of the Mist was operating from the Canadian side. The force and spray from the falls was so powerful. About 168 000 cubic metres of water go over the crest line of the falls every minute.

Getting closer |

Some got a little wetter than others |
We walked along Clifton Hill to Ruby Tuesday for supper on the patio after our boat tour. I really enjoyed their gluten free menu! We explored around town and went in the Upside Down House and walked on the ceiling! Crazy weird, the toilet even flushed.
|
So corny we had to go in |
|
Now just to figure out how to sit down |

Who wants to try and use the toilet first? |
We stopped at the Hersey Store to look around and sample some fudge. We looked at the beautiful lights on the falls as we made our way back to the vehicle. It was a very busy lit up touristy town.
|
Almost a Las Vegas feel |

That's one big Hailey kiss |
|
True or False? |
As we were walking back to our car at 10:00 p.m. we had a surprise, there was fireworks tonight.
