Day 14- July 10 Hopewell Rocks

Day 14- July 10      Hopewell Rocks

Up early this morning as we needed to be at the Baymount Outdoor Adventures sight for 8:00 am.  Filled in paper work, signed our lives away and paid them for the upcoming adventure of kayaking the Hopewell Rocks in the Bay of Fundy.  All suited up in kayak skirts and life jackets, then some basic dry land training and we were off.  Scott & Hailey together, Darby and I, and Brody was with Paige from Boston.  With our group of about a dozen people and 3 guides we set out.

We can fit through!

Great formations

We paddled among the giant flowerpot rocks on 46 foot tides for about 2 hours.  We listened to legends and interpretive stories of the rocks and the Giant Tides of Fundy.  We weaved our way through many pillars of sandstone and conglomerate rock with balsam fir and dwarf spruce growing on top.  If you had a great imagination you were able to see turtles, elephants, old ladies, horses, dinosaurs, diamonds and hearts within the rocks.  The Bay of Fundy is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Marine Wonder of the World.
Mother nature is amazing!

Chiseling & eroding the base away.

We had a fantastic time in the murky red water around the Hopewell Rocks.

On our way back to our campsite we saw the Atlantic National car rally.   We pulled over and watched a variety of classic cars cruise by, such as a 67 Mustang and a 57 Chevy.  Our expedition is running great, nothing a little duct tape can't fix.
This picture is for Grandpa who keeps asking how the Ford is running.

Back to the site for lunch and then everyone chilled for the afternoon.  We napped, read, went on bike rides, swimming in the pool and playing tether ball.  Road our bikes to the nearby Daniel Mud Flats.

Still got it at 52!

We drove about a half hour down the coast to Alma for supper of fresh lobster, clam chowder and salads.  The meal was excellent and very reasonably priced.  They put our lobsters on a large cookie sheet covered with newspaper, some butter and our tools.  We sat outside on the picnic tables to enjoy our meal.
Expensive tastes!

Getting down to business!

Stopped at a convienience store on the way back to our site for milk & bread, then watched a movie to end our great day.
